POLICE in Eastern Visayas arrested two wanted persons for cases of illegal possession of firearms and murder in separate operations in Leyte.
On Saturday, November 14, Albuera municipal police nabbed Trifon Sularte, 81, for alleged violation of Section 28 of Republic Act 10591, otherwise known as “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.”
The operating unit, led by Captain Alexander Alfonso, arrested the said accused by virtue of a warrant dated November 12, 2020, which was issued by Honorable Carlos O Arguelles, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 14 in Baybay City.
The judge recommended a bail of P120,000.
In Carigara, Leyte, police arrested Peter Ivan Peñaflor, listed as rank 3 most wanted person-provincial level.
The 26-year-old accused was arrested on November 13 by joint operatives of Biliran Municipal Police Station led by Captain Romeo Sudario Jr., Regional Intelligence Unit-Eastern Visayas led by Senior Master Sergeant Marcel Cantuba, under the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel Felix Gervacio Jr, and Biliran Police Provincial Office led by Lieutenant Alberto Parena, in coordination with Carigara Municipal Police Station.
The accused has a warrant dated September 17, 2020 for the crime of murder.
Honorable Luz Navarrete, presiding judge of RTC-Branch 16 in Naval, Biliran issued the warrant, with no bail bond recommended.
The arrested persons were brought to the police stations for documentation prior to turn-over to the courts of origin. (SunStar Philippines)
