Kawayan, Biliran— A suspected Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) member and gun for hire yielded an unlicensed .45 caliber pistol with ammunition and dried Marijuana leaves and 4 sachets containing white crystalline substance during a buy bust operation conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Team of the local police, PDEA and PDEU of this province about 8:20 in the morning today (June 06) at Brgy. Madao, Kawayan, Biliran.
Kawayan Chief of Police Lt. Junriel S Rosario identified the suspect as Samuel Pernitez, 42, single, construction worker, and a resident of Brgy. Tubig-Guinoo, Kawayan, Biliran. The police tagged the suspect as a newly identified individual but also a suspected CTG/KAMAS and gun for hire member operating in the province of Leyte and Biliran.
Recovered from his possession was one sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu procured by an operative in the amount of P500. During body search in front of barangay officials, media and DOJ representatives, the police recovered black bag that contains one cal. 45 pistol, marked colt M19A1 US ARMY, with serial number 293419, one assembly magazine of cal. 45 pistol with ten pieces live bullets of the same caliber and a plastic container. The plastic container marked tea tee cream when opened yielded two sachets containing the same white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu with an estimated weight of .5 grams with an estimated value of P10, 000.
Also recovered was one piece P500 bill with serial number AT558365, which is a court subscribed money intended for the buy bust operation.
The police also recovered during the search from another clutch bag of the suspect a plastic that contained dried leaves which the suspect admits as of suspected marijuana estimated to weigh more or less .06 grams and with market value of one thousand pesos (P1000). The police also recovered P3450 cash in different denominations which the police suspected as proceeds from selling the illegal drugs.
The suspect admitted owning the gun, claiming for his personal protection. He also admitted owning the Marijuana leaves as he is a self-admit user of the said plants. He however denied owning the shabu claiming he does not use it.
Charges of violations of RA 9165 the Comprehensive Law against Illegal Drugs of 2002 is being readied by the arresting police against the suspect who is temporarily detained at the Kawayan Municipal Jail.- BiliranIsland.com
