Caibiran, Biliran— A live-in partner yielded suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation conducted by PDEA, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of Biliran Provincial Police Office and the Station Drug Enforcement Team about 5: 25 in the afternoon on Wednesday, Sept 8 at Vista Del Mar Subdivision Brgy. Cabibihan, Caibiran, Biliran.
The suspects were identified as Mary Jane Gabus, 45, married, self-employed, a resident of Brgy. Victory, Caibiran, and Mark Viñegas, 47, with live-in partner, self-employed, also a resident of Brgy. Victory, Caibiran, Biliran. The two are tagged by authorities as Street Level Individuals in the local drug trade.
Recovered from the male suspect who was the target of the operation was a sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu procured by an agent in the amount of P500. During body search in front of Barangay Officials and representatives from the DOJ and Media the searching agent recovered a medium sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu with an estimated weight of .5 grams with a street value amounting to P3400. The searcher also recovered the P500 bill bearing serial number BD418339 which is a court subscribe money intended for the buy bust operation
The suspect denied owning the illegal substance recovered in their possession as the woman just kept on crying hard.
But the PDEA clarified that the couple has been tipped to the Isumbong Mo Kay Wilkins program which informed the program about their alleged involvement in illegal activity. The PDEA said that they had to conduct surveillance on the suspect for nearly a month until they found out that the couple was indeed into illegal drugs prompting them to conduct a buy bust operation that resulted in their arrest.
Charges of violations of RA 9165, the Comprehensive Law against Illegal Drugs of 2002 has been readied by PDEA against the live-in couple who is temporarily detained at the Caibiran Municipal Police Station. – BiliranIsland.com
