Biliran, Biliran— A farmer yielded an unlicensed firearm during an implementation of a search warrant in his house about 6:00 in the morning today (Sept .26) in Zone 2, Brgy. Sangalang, Biliran Biliran.

Biliran Chief of Police Lt. Isidoro Ancero identified the suspect as Julito Macorro, 60, a.k.a. Jul, 61, married, farmer and a resident of the said place.

Lt. Ancero in a telephone interview said the arrest of the suspect stemmed from a complaint of several neighbors that told police that the suspect turned rowdy every time he got drunk and fired his gun.

Because of this, Lt. Ancero applied a search warrant for a legal search of his house.

Upon presentation of a deponent, Hon. Luz Navarrete, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 16 in Naval, Biliran issued the Search Warrant No. 05-2021 for violation of RA 10591, the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

During the search, the police recovered inside their bedroom one unit cal. 38 revolver marked (S&W) without serial number and six pcs. live ammunition for cal. 38 and one Holster.

The search was witnessed by Chairman Richard M Gelizon of Brgy. Sangalang and Media Representative Anthony Marlon Mecaral.

The suspect told the media that he has a gun for protection because he also has cows that he protects from thieves. But he admits that it has no legal papers.

The suspect along with the recovered evidence was brought to Biliran MPS for proper disposition while charges of violations of RA10591 are being readied against the suspect who is temporarily detained at the Biliran MPS. – BiliranIsland.com
