Two PDLs caught sniffing shabu

Naval Biliran— Two Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) were caught in the act using illegal drugs inside their cell about 6: 00 in the evening today Thursday (Oct 14) at the Biliran Provincial Jail, Calumpang, Naval, Biliran.

Jail warden Gideon Batiquen identified the suspects as Joel Dela Peña, 30, with live-in partner, a resident of Brgy. Bulalacao, Kawayan, Biliran, and Antonio Villena Jr., 49, widower, a resident of Brgy Bato, Biliran. The two PDLs are facing different charges with Dela Peña is facing Murder while Villena is facing charges of carnapping.

Batiquen told the media that a fellow PDL secretly called the attention of duty Provincial Guard after witnessing the two take turns in sniffing the illegal drug. He said that the Provincial Guard on duty which he did not name immediately responded and caught the two in the act using the illegal drugs.

Batiquen continued that based on the admission of Dela Peña the illegal drugs came from him and it was given to him at the court premises after attending the hearing for his case.

Recovered from the two PDLs was one sachet containing whit crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, two empty sachets containing residue of shabu, 3 pcs aluminum tin foil and on Realme color black cellular phone.

Charges of violations of RA 9165 the Comprehensive Law against Illegal Drugs of 2002 are being readied by the police against the two PDLs who were brought to Naval Police Station for booking.
