Kawayan, Biliran— A non-teaching employee of the Department of Education of this town yields suspected shabu during a buy bust operation conducted by the agents of PDEA around 6:50 in the evening on Monday (Jan 31) in Brgy. Masagaosao, Kawayan, Biliran.
Intelligence Agent V Maria Felina M. Bacha identified the suspect as Maria S. Umpacan, 54, married, Filipino, a non-teaching PERSONNEL of DepEd here holding the position of Administrative Assistant II and a resident of Brgy. Masagaosao, Kawayan, Biliran. The PDEA listed the suspect as a High Valued Individual who is on their priority list.
Recovered from the suspect was one sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu procured by an agent in the amount of P500. During a body search in front of barangay officials and media, the searching agent recovered one more sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu with an estimated weight of .05 gram and a street value of PhP 3,500. Also recovered from her possession was THE PhP 500 buy bust money bearing Serial Number AX326392 used in the operation.
The suspect denied owning the recovered sachets of suspected illegal drugs from her possession claiming that she is a God-fearing person who always visits the church everyday and joins church activities. She also said that as an employee of DepEd, it is impossible for her to join any illegal activity.
Charges for violations of RA No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerour Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied by the PDEA against the suspect who is temporarily detained at the Kawayan Municipal Police Station. – BiliranIsland.com
