Naval, Biliran—Two SK Chairmen, one of them the town’s SK Federation President, has landed in jail after a minor girl complained that she was allegedly abused by the two suspects inside a local hotel about 4: l00 in the morning on Wednesday, June 8.
The complaining victim, a 15-year-old girl, Grade 10 student in one of the high schools here and a resident of one of the barangays of this town. The suspects were identified as Chris Jay Golin y Pateo, 25, SK Chairman, with live-in-partner and resident of Brgy. Sto Niño, Naval, Biliran and Paulo Crisostomo, 23, SK Federation President, single and resident of Brgy P.I. Garcia, Naval, Biliran.
The victim told police that she had a drinking spree with her friends together with the two suspects at the house of Brgy. Chairman Joel Ballesteros of Brgy. P.S. Eamiguel as the barangay was having their yearly fiesta celebration. However, as the fun continues, the group decided to continue their drinking spree at the barangay covered court that lasted until 4:00 in the morning of June 8.
The victim further narrates that suspect Golin asked her to accompany him in bringing Crisostomo who was apparently drunk to a lodging house which she accede to. Later, the three of them boarded a motorcycle to look for a lodging house and ended up at the A.R. Hotel.
The victim disclosed that while inside the hotel, the two suspects allegedly took turns in abusing her repeatedly until she lost consciousness after failing to put up a fight against the two. She added that when she regained strength, she slowly stood up to escape from her abusers and went to Shell Gasoline Station and asked for help to report the incident to the police.
The victim was referred to the Rural Health Unit of this town for a medical examination while a hot pursuit operation was conducted by the local police against the two suspects resulting in the arrest of the two suspects who are now under police custody.
Rape charges have been filed by the Woman’s and Child Protection Division of Naval Police Station against the two detained suspects before the prosecutor’s office for inquest proceedings.
