Biliran, Biliran— The local police continue to conduct a hot pursuit OPERATION against a construction worker who stabbed dead a Punog Barangay about 6:40 in the evening on Wednesday (Jul 6) at Sitio Rawis, Brgy. Julita, Biliran, Biliran.

Biliran COP Police Capt Isidro Ancero identified THE suspect as Jene Balce y Sumayan, 36, with live-in-partner, construction worker and a resident of Sitio Tondo, Brgy. Julita, Biliran, Biliran. The victim was identified as Roberto Yapan, of legal age, married, Punong Barangay and a resident of Sitio Rawis, Brgy. Julita, Biliran, Biliran.

Police Capt Ancero in a telephone interview said that the victim just arrived home after helping a constituent. While the victim was standing at the terrace of his house, the suspect who came from behind stabbed the victim twice hitting him in his back and neck. The victim was rushed to the Biliran Provincial Hospital, Naval, Biliran for medical treatment but was declared Dead on Arrival by the attending physician.

The suspect immediately fled the crime scene and is still at large as of this writing.

As this develops, newly elected Governor Gerard Espina posted in his Facebook page today that the Provincial Government of Biliran will give P150,000 reward to any person who can furnish information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect in the killing of BRGY. Chairman Yapan. –
