The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)- Biliran District Engineering Office (BDEO) will temporarily close the Santol Bridge at Brgy. San Isidro, Biliran, Biliran along Biliran- Naval section for heavy equipment vehicles (haulers, elf, dump trucks, etc) due to repair of the bridge’s approach.
Effective 5:00 AM on Thursday, July 21, 2022, the Santol Bridge will be temporarily closed until 12:00 AM on Sunday, July 31, 2022.

District Engineer Ferdinand A. Briones said that the Santol Bridge encountered scouring on its bridge approach while widening of this bridge is on-going.
DE Briones advised operators of heavy equipment and drivers of vehicles with more than for wheels to take the route: Naval-Caibiran Cross Country Road – Caibiran- Cabucgayan – Biliran in going to Tacloban/ Ormoc and vice-versa.
Briones also advised the travelling public of light vehicles to take caution in passing this bridge while repair is on-going.
According to Briones, this bridge is on-going on bridge widening under its 2022 implementation with a contract amount of P9.5-M. From its start date on February 21, 2022, this project has a completion date on August 17, 2022.
