Biliran, Biliran – A hot pursuit operation is being conducted by the local police against the two suspects who shot dead a three termer barangay kagawad at the wake of his wife about 8: 40 in the morning on Friday (Jul 22) at Brgy Julita, Biliran, Biliran.
Biliran COP Police Captain Isidoro Ancero identified the victim as Crispin Sumayan y Amit 49, married, jobless, a resident of Brgy Julita, Biliran, Biliran. While the two unidentified riding in tandem suspects were on board an Orange Color Rusi Gamma 200 motorcycle.
Capt Ancero in a telephone interview said that they received a cellular phone call from Reynaldo Estacion that a shooting incident transpired in the said place at that moment. He said that they immediately responded to the area to verify the said report but the victim was already brought to the Biliran Provincial Hospital for immediate treatment but was declared Dead on Arrival by the attending physicians.
Capt Ancero continued that the victim was outside the house of his parents- in law attending the vigil of his wife who died from cancer. He said that witnesses told police that while the victim was alone a single motorcycle described as Rusi 200 Gamma color orange suddenly arrived driven by the suspect who was wearing a black jacket. Later the driver disembarked from the motorcycle and pulled out a handgun and shot the victim several times causing him to fall to the ground.
The suspect immediately boarded their motorcycle driven by the back rider wearing a white sweatshirt and fled from the crime scene. Police recovered from the crime scene two spent shells of still unknown firearms.
A CCTV owned by the municipality showed the two suspects on board the orange motorcycle away while going out of the municipality.
Capt Ancero said that a charge of murder was filed by the local police against the victim in connection with the killing of the late Brgy Julita Chairman Roberto Yapan, 42, in Sitio Rawis, Brgy. Julita, Biliran, Biliran last July 6 by suspect Jene Balce, who was arrested by the police in Palo, Leyte, last July 7. Capt Ancero disclosed that the charges to the victim stemmed from the revelation of witnesses that the victim Sumayan was driving the motorcycle that brought Balce to the house of Chairman Yapan and was also the driver of the same motorcycle when the two fled from the area where chairman Yapan was stabbed dead.
Former Biliran Gov. Dr Roger Espina in a post in his Facebook page today offered P500,000 cash reward for anyone who could lead to the arrest of the killers and identify the mastermind in the killing of the victim Sumayan.
