The Department of Public Works and Highways- Biliran District Engineering Office (DPWH-BDEO) hastens the completion of its new district office building. The new DPWH BDEO building is strategically located at the Government Center in the heart of Brgy. Larrazabal, Naval, Biliran alongside other national government offices.
The three-storey building, which commenced construction last February 21 and was slightly affected by design and weather setbacks, has now achieved 18% physical accomplishment and is currently ongoing with the ground floor structural works. The project was awarded to two contractors namely R8 ASPHALT AND CONSTRUCTION INC. and AQUALINE CONSTRUCTION to expedite its completion. This P40-M project which is funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA 2022) is set to accommodate the district office’s growing team which is steadily expanding in response to the demands brought about by the speedy development of the province.
Meanwhile, its immediate neighbor, the ongoing New Biliran Provincial Hospital project which commenced construction last October 2021 has now achieved 75% accomplishment of its Phase II constructions. Phase I of the project, which was completed last year, included site clearing of the 5-hectare property, soil embankment and leveling works, and drainage line installations. Phase II includes the construction of its Main Building A which was substantially completed. Meanwhile, structural works for Building B is currently ongoing on foundation works.
The new hospital is a project of the DPWH Regional Office VIII and under close coordination and monitoring of the district office of Biliran. The project entails a two-story, four building conglomerate that has a 120-bed capacity on its main building and features important modern medical equipment, technologies and medical facilities that the Biliranons highly need. Aside from the hospital buildings, the project also incorporates a dormitory, a commercial hub, maintenance and motor pool area, medical arts building. mortuary and other ancillary facilities on its future development.
Once completed, the said project will be highly beneficial to the Biliranons as it will complement the existing and sole provincial hospital of Biliran which is already catering a high volume of patients from the different municipalities of the province. (bdeo/pjl)
