Naval, Biliran— An ex-con who was released from imprisonment after the court approved his plea bargaining agreement is set to return to jail after he was arrested by combined forces of PDEA and the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the local police about 4:50 in the afternoon on Thursday (Sept 22) in Brgy. Sto Niño of the capital town of Biliran.
PDEA 8 Regional Director Edgar T. Jubay identified the suspect as Robert Dela Peña, a.k.a “Obet”, 55, married, a resident at Sitio. Sinambag, Brgy Daja Dako, San Isidro, Leyte.
Recovered from the suspect was one sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu procured by an agent in the amount of P15, 000. During a body search conducted to the suspect in front of Barangay Officials, and two representatives from DOJ, the searching cop also recovered five more sachets containing the same white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu with an estimated street value of P15, 000. The searching cop also recovered 15 pieces of P1000 bill to which one of the bills bears serial number VY002991 which was a court subscribed money intended for the operation, while the 14 pieces bills are bogus money and cash money amounting to P420.
The police also seized the suspects black bag marked “Kaiseroom” and once opened contained one .45 pistol painted black marked Colt 1911 with serial number 783741, two magazine assembly of the same caliber, 38 pcs live ammos of caliber .45, two pcs disposable plastic lighter, one empty bottle of Multi-V, one inside holster color black, one leather wallet color brown, one Nokia keypad cellphone color blue, one folding knife marked “Czark Trail” one forceps, one improvise bamboo clip, one improvised plastic filler, one Dorco blade, and one scissor.
The suspect did not issue any statement to the media who interviewed him at the police station.
Charges of violations of RA 9165, the comprehensive law against illegal drugs of 2002 and RA 10591, the comprehensive law against illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and explosives are being readied by the arresting authorities against the suspect who is temporarily detained at the Naval MPS.
