Caibiran, Biliran— Drug authorities led by PDEA, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Biliran Provincial Police Office and the local Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) recovered an estimated 10 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of P68, 000. 00 from an ex-convict farmer during a buy bust operation about 6:30 in the morning on Friday (Oct 14) at Brgy. Cabibihan here.
Caibiran COP Lt Vic Viros identified the suspect as Santiago Santillan, a.ka. “Ago”, 43, married, farmer, a resident of the said place.
Recovered from his possession was one sachet containing white crystalline substance procured by an operative in the amount of P10, 000. During body search in front of Barangay Officials and a representative from the DOJ the searching cop further recovered five more sachets in which three of the sachets are medium sizes while the others are small with an estimated weight of 10 grams with a street value of P68, 000. 00. The searching cop also recovered ten pcs of P1000 bills wherein one of the bills bears serial number EU939126 which is a court subscribed money intended for the operation while the nine other bills are boodle money, one piece of Caliber 45 pistol toy gun, and P26 cash money in different denominations.
The police said that the suspect was released from prison after he was given parole after serving imprisonment for the crime of murder.
Charges of violations of RA 9165, the comprehensive law against illegal drugs were filed at the Provincial Prosecutors Office thru inquest proceedings today.
