Cabucgayan, Biliran -A driver of a passenger tricycle was injured while his two passengers were unhurt after a huge Gmelina tree fell on top of the tricycle they were boarding about 3: 00 in the afternoon today Thursday, Nov. 17 along the National Highway area coverage of Brgy. Libertad, Cabucgayan, Biliran.
Cabucgayan COP Police Lt Eris John L. Salomon, identified the wounded passengers as Junie Sanico, 60, married, tricycle driver, a resident of Brgy. Bunga, Cabucgayan, Biliran and passengers Samson Morales, 22, student, a resident of Brgy. Casiawan, Cabucgayan, Biliran, and Jessie Potot, 38, married, self-employed, a resident of Brgy. Langgao, Cabucgayan, Biliran.
Investigation conducted by the local police disclosed that the driver was driving his tricycle along with two passengers on their way to Brgy. Bunga, Cabucgayan, Biliran coming from Cabucgayan town proper. However, when the tricycle was reaching near the house of retired teacher Olimpio Flores, 73, married, a resident of Brgy. Libertad, Cabucgayan, Biliran, the three passengers on board the tricycle were surprised when a Gmelina Tree suddenly collapsed landing in the process on the top portion of the tricycle.
The tricycle incurred damages while the driver sustained abrasions on his head and wounds on his nose and was immediately brought to Cabucgayan RHU for immediate medical treatment but later referred to Biliran Provincial Hospital, Naval, Biliran.
Fortunately, the two tricycle passengers were not hurt or injured during the incident but their worries were severe.
