Naval, Biliran— A Person Deprived of Liberty (PDL) after he was arrested in a drug buy-bust was served with a Warrant of Arrest by San Isidro, Leyte police at about 1:20 in the afternoon on Wednesday, April 26, inside the BJMP in this capital town of Biliran.
San Isidro COP Police Major Reymund Quinagutan who led the team of police that served the Warrant of Arrest identified the accused as Robert Dela Peña, a.k.a. “Obet”, legal age, married, PDL, a native of Brgy. Daja Daku, San Isidro, Leyte.
The accused was arrested by a Warrant of Arrest dated December 09, 2022, charged with the crime of Murder docketed under Criminal Case No.CN-22-1042 issued by Hon. Manasseh S. Bastes, Acting Presiding Judge of RTC, Br. 11, 8th Judicial Region, Calubian, Leyte with No Bail recommended.
The charges came in connection with the killing of a live-in couple whom the accused barged into the house of the victim and the husband several times, killing the victim instantly last year. The suspect fled San Isidro, Leyte and stayed in the capital town of Biliran, while bringing his illegal activities to Naval selling illegal drugs.
Dela Peña was incarcerated at the BJMP in Naval after he was arrested in a buy-bust operation just months after he was released from prison after his plead bargaining agreement was approved by a court in Naval, Biliran that grants him liberty. However, the accused continued his illegal trade of selling the illegal drugs of shabu that’s why he was arrested for the second time on Sept. 22, 2022.
