NAVAL, Biliran (BDEO) – The construction of the new Biliran Provincial Hospital (BPH) in Brgy. Larrazabal in Naval, Biliran under the implementation of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 8 is now 90% completed, OIC-District Engineer Alfredo L. Bollido of Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO), reported.

DPWH- Biliran DEO is one of the agencies that closely supervises the monitoring of the new BPH together with the DPWH Regional Office 8 and the Department of Health (DOH). This project has an allocation amount of P400-M prioritized for funding thru the efforts and dedication of Cong. Gerardo J. Espina Jr., in his strong desire to give Biliranons a quality and affordable health care services with modern facilities.

OIC-DE Bollido spearheaded the project inspection on Tuesday, May 16 together with Assistant District Engineer Irwin L Antonio, Engr. Diolito S. Aberion, District Project Engineer, Engr. Jeorge Malaque, Project Inspector, Engr. Remar S. Zamora, Resident Engineer and other technical personnel of Biliran DEO with the representative from the contractor’s side.

According to OIC-DE Bollido, the P400-M allocation amount involves the construction/ completion of Building “1” and the construction of main structure member for Building “2” only and a road network as a part of the site development plan. This project has a target completion date on July 28, 2023.

OIC-DE Bollido explained that the Building “1” first floor is an area for Out Patients Department (OPD) and Emergency Room while the second floor is an area for medical ward, central and supply sterilization rooms and roof deck garden.

“The P400-M allocation, kulang pa talaga yan’ para matotally complete and operational ang Ospital pero ginagawan ng paraan ng ating mabuti at masipag na Congressman para makakalap ng dagdag na pondo para mapatapos ang ating Ospital,” said OIC-DE Bollido.

OIC-DE Bollido revealed that additional P250-M funding allocation has been sought by Cong. Espina to finish the Building “2” of the hospital and other necessary facilities needed. The Building “2” is intended for various medical laboratories and examinations for 1st floor while the 2nd floor is intended for the operating room complex, labor and delivery room and for the Neonatal and Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

OIC-DE Bollido said that their project inspection aims to ensure that the project implementation is in accordance with the approved plans and specification of the DPWH and the DOH.

“There were only minor defects but it can be easily corrected by the contractor, these will be monitored on our next project inspection,” OIC-DE Bollido said.

The new BPH involves the construction of 2-storey, 4-buildings with roof deck with a total floor area of 11,930 sq.m and with a total of 120 bed capacity.
