NAVAL, Biliran (BDEO) – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)- Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) implements the last phase of construction for the access road project: National Road Junction (NRJ), Brgy. Villa Consuelo leading to Brgy. Libtong in the town of Naval under CY 2023 funding.
The said project has an allocation amount of P40-M which involves the road opening and concreting of a two-lane road with a length of 0.95 kilometer, a construction of road slope protection and drainage structures.
As of May 30, 2023, the said project has an accomplishment of 17.30% in contract with Churock Builders Inc.
The construction of access road: NRJ Villa Consuelo connecting to Libtong Road is a multi-year implementation from 2018-2023 with a total road length of 8.322 kilometers and with a total allocation amount of P258.42-M. This project is implemented under “Roads Leveraging Linkages for Industry and Trade” (ROLL IT) Program, a convergence between the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the DPWH.
Meanwhile, another ROLL IT project amounting to P40-M is also implemented by the district office under its CY 2023 funding. This project is the 0.950-kilometer two-lane road concreting/ improvement of access road leading to Trades, Industries and Economic Zones, Caraycaray-Cabungaan-Libtong Road in support of the Agribusiness in Brgy. Libtong, Naval, Biliran.
According to OIC-DE Bollido, the Caraycaray-Cabungaan-Libtong road concreting is also under multi-year implementation from 2018-2025 with a total road length of 11.0665 kilometer and a total allocation amount of P341.7-M.
OIC-DE Bollido revealed that the completion of the Caraycaray-Cabungaan-Libtong road project by phases will soon link to the NRJ Villa Consuelo, providing a new circumferential road for an easier, faster and convenient transport of people and farm-products for agribusiness.
Brgy. Villa Consuelo and Brgy. Libtong is known for its coco sugar products and potential for ginger powder processing, turmeric, banana chips, cacao and coffee among others, hence prioritized for implementation.
