Naval, Biliran— A newly identified drug peddler yielded seven sachets containing white crystalline substances during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Team and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of Biliran Provincial Police Office at about 5:15 in the afternoon on Friday, August 18, in Brgy. Villaconsuelo, of this capital town of the Province of Biliran.

The suspect was identified as Angelito Torres, a.k.a. “Angel” 38, single, laborer, and resident of Brgy San Pablo, Naval, Biliran.

Recovered from his possession were two sachets containing white crystalline substances suspected to be shabu procured by an operative in the amount of P8000. During the conduct of a body search in front of Barangay Officials and representative from the National Prosecutors Office, the searching cop recovered from the suspect a one Caterpillar sling bag color black, that once opened contained one Mentos Candy canister color green, that yielded five sachets containing suspected shabu particles. Also recovered were one digital weighing scale color red and white, one Dorco blade, one bundle 4x8x003 Plastic bag marked Excellent, two improvised bamboo clips, one scissor, two improvised plastic scoop, one metal clip, one needle, one aluminum foil strip, two disposable plastic lighters¸ cash money amounting to P1,000.00 and one Honda XRM motorcycle painted black with no plate number. Also recovered from the possession of the suspect was one genuine P1000 bill bearing Serial Number B7159029 which is a court subscribed money intended for the buy bust operation and seven P1000 bills bugos money as part of the buy bust money.

Prior to his arrest the suspect was apprised of his constitutional rights through the Miranda Doctrine in the language that he understood. The estimated weight of the illegal drugs recovered from his possession was 2.5 grams with an estimated street value of P20, 000.

Charges of Violations of Secs 5 (Selling illegal drugs) and 11 (Possession of Illegal Drugs) of RA 9165 the Comprehensive Law against Illegal Drugs of 2002 has been readied by the apprehending police officers against the suspect who it temporarily detained at the locked-up cell of Naval MPS.
