Kawayan, Biliran— Three persons on board a motor boat who were caught conducting an illegal method of fishing were arrested by local police who were conducting a seaborne patrol at about 3:20 in the morning on Saturday, August 19, along the municipal Sea Water of Kawayan, Biliran.

The violators were identified as Joseph Alemanza, (Boat Captain), 27, single, fisherman, Robert Roja, (Crew), 31, single, fisherman, and Ryan Andales, 19, single, fisherman, all resident of Brgy San Lorenzo, Kawayan, Biliran.

The Kawayan police said that they were conducting a seaborne patrol within the territorial seawaters of their municipality led by Police Senior Master Sergeant Edwin C. Royeras together with Kawayan Bantay Dagat led by Macario Rubi when they chance to caught on the act the three violators conducting an unauthorized method of fishing with the use of air compressor. The three were arrested for Violation of Secs. 23 & 29 of the Basic Municipal Fisheries Ordinance No. 99-04. The fishing Boat painted red with no markings is allegedly owned by a certain Samuel Trangia, of legal age, fisherman and a resident of Brgy San Lorenzo, Kawayan, Biliran.

Recovered from the violators were a fishing boat, one Air Compressor, two compressor hoses, two spear guns, with an estimated value of more or less P50,000, and an assorted catch fish of more or less four kilograms with an estimated market value of P500.00.

The intercepted fishing boat was brought to the shoreline of Kawayan, Biliran while its crew members and confiscated fishing gear were brought to this station for proper disposition.
