DPWH Biliran

NAVAL, Biliran –The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)- Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) joins the Municipality of Naval in its grand parade for the 163rd Pueblo (Charter) Day Celebration on September 26, 2023 as part of the social responsibility of the office and linkages to stakeholders.

More than 70 employees of Biliran DEO actively participated the said activity which kicked-off at the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral at 7:30 AM and culminated at the Naval Municipal grounds where various activities followed thereafter.

The parade was also participated by officials and representatives from 37 national government agencies, 2 entities of the academe group, 30 private agencies/ private sectors, six religious and civic organizations, five clubs and organizations, and the elected officials and personnel of the 26 barangays of Naval.

Biliran representative Congressman Gerardo “Gerryboy” J. Espina Jr., Governor Gerard Roger M. Espina, and Mayor Gretchen Stephanie M. Espina also graced the event.

The highlight of the 163rd Pueblo Day celebration was the giving of the Loyalty Awards to Local Government Unit (LGU) employees and Navaleños who excelled in their respective fields. The top 10 highest taxpayers and top 10 early filers of business permits and licenses were also recognized.

Other activities in the venue include the unveiling of photos of past Mayors of Naval, launching of the “One Town One Product” (OTOP) Philippines Hub, Trade fair with Flower Garden Show and display of food and other delicacies, awarding of winners of Sining Resiklo, larong lahi, kasalan ng bayan, and free services to LGU employees and teachers dubbed “Bahalag Stress Basta Fresh Day”.

Moreover, Professor Rolando Borrinaga, a renowned local historian also conducted a lecture presentation on “Revisit the History of Naval”.

The 163rd Pueblo Day celebration of Naval is anchored on the theme “Celebrating 163 years of Naval’s vibrant Culture and Traditions.”
