Tacloban City— The Eastern Visayas Police Regional Office have recorded at least four deaths from the calamity brought by the LPA and shear line that happened early this week.

The first recovered casualty was reported about 12:40 in the afternoon on Tuesday, November 21, in Brgy. Ynaguingayan, Pambujan Northern Samar after the occurrence of a landslide that caused the death of the victim Lara Ortiz Cabides, of legal age, resident of Brgy. Ynaguingayan, Pambujan Northern Samar. Her body was recovered by members of the 19th Infantry Battalion under a huge debris of soil when her house was hit by a landslide in the morning of that fateful day.

The two other victims were identified as Zenaida Olesco, 65, of Brgy. Hinatad, and Marissa Jubasan, 39, of Brgy. McKinley, all barangays of Catarman, Northern Samar were retrieved during the clearing operation. According to Zenaida Olesco, her mother died when she was struck by a fallen tree caused by a landslide while Marissa Jubasan was drowned to death due to the rising tide.

Yesterday, Thursday, Nov. 23 at about 10:30 in the morning Staff Sergeants Wilson Andayo and Jack Acebuche, of the 43rd Infantry Battalion personally appeared before Catarman Police station informed the recovery of the lifeless body of Jasmine Marquita, 19, single, employee of Carol Videoke bar, and resident of Mondragon Northern Samar, from the huge debris accumulated during the flooding while on clearing operation in Brgy. Narra, Catarman, Northern Samar.

The victim was reportedly last seen about 5: 30 in the morning on Tuesday, November 21 while trying to save her life during the heavy flooding but believed to have been drifted by the strong current of the flood resulting in her sudden death.
