Naval, Biliran— The local police are conducting a thorough investigation surrounding the shooting of a minor who is still recuperating at a government hospital here after he was shot several times at about 8:42 in the evening on Friday, January 19, in Brgy. Calumpang of this capital town of the Province of Biliran.

Police identified the victim as Eman “Gamay” Umpad, 17, single, out of school youth, jobless, a resident sa Sitio Bliss, Barangay Calumpang, Naval, Biliran. The victim is reported to be a known burglar in the community but because he is still a minor he cannot be charge.

Initial investigation conducted by Naval MPS disclosed that the victim was on his way to the shore of Naval on board his single motorcycle another single motorcycle apposed on him and without any reason shot the victim twice hitting his back and run to Beshiemar where the suspects run after him and shot him again but failed to hit the victim who continued running into the rice paddy where he falls the mud. Fortunately, patrolling police car was traversing near the area prompting the suspects to fled away on board a Honda XRM.

The responding local rescue group pulled the victim at the muddy rice paddy and brought him to the Biliran Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.

Operatives from Naval MPS immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation to identify the suspects and the motive of the shooting but fails.
