He said that when he asked the driver of the closed van to open the back door of the van, they noticed that it contained several big packs(cartons). However, when they opened the contents of one of the big packs, they were stunned to see reams of cigarettes inside. He added that Coast Guard personnel conducting the random paneling immediately asked the driver of the permit and other legal documents surrounding the cargoes but they could not, prompting them to seize and conduct an inventory of the intercepted items.

The hauled cigarettes comprise of 400 reams of Black Hawk Platinum Cigarettes, 200 reams of Platinum Cigarettes, and 100 reams of Canon Menthol Cigarettes, originating from Zamboanga City and bound for Oas, Albay. The cigarettes are estimated at P1, 200.000 million pesos.
