The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)- Biliran District Engineering Office (Biliran-DEO) completes a new local road project in the town of Naval which now provides better mobility to the residents of Brgy. Padre Sergio (P.S.) Eamiguel in the town of Naval.

The said project which starts at the road junction of Sitio Lomboy to Brgy. P.S Eamiguel, involves the road rehabilitation and road concreting of 658-meter two-lane road with effective width of 5 meters and thickness of 0.23 meters as well as drainage features.

PS The completed project is expected to benefit about 1700 residents of the said barangay and the travelling public.

OIC-District Engineer Irwin L. Antonio disclosed that along the said project lies the basic services of the said barangay such as education, health and social services.

“The completion of this road project will not only improve the accessibility of the residents and local farmers but would also spur economic opportunities for the barangay,” OIC-DE Antonio said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Niño Catoltol, 54, resident of Brgy. P.S. Eamiguel, Naval, Biliran, expressed his gratitude to DPWH for implementing the project in their barangay.

“Kadtong dili pa sementado, mas lisud gyud kay syempre lapok kaayo and dan kung mag-uwan, kung huraw sad abog sad kaayo. Karon pasalamat me kaayo ug dako sa DPWH nga niabot gyud ang proyekto dire sa amo’ng lugar,” said Mr. Catoltol.

At the time when it was still not paved, it was very challenging for us because the ground becomes muddy and slippery during rainy days and very dusty during sunny days. Now, I am very thankful to DPWH for implementing this project in our place.

“Kung ikompara ang kaniadto nga dan dinhi, kaysa karon, mas dako gyud kaayo ug improvement, mas nindot na siya, convenient na kaayo sa pag agi-agi sa mga sakyanan, di na maglisod kung naa’y kahinabo, okey na kaayo,” he added.

Compared to the road before, this is really a big improvement. This road is better and very convenient for vehicles to navigate.

The said project, with an allocation of Php 20-million, is completed under the district’s 2023 local infrastructure program which was prioritized for funding through the support of Hon. Gerardo J. Espina Jr., Representative of Biliran Lone District.
