Answer: The Old Testament law commanded the Israelites, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:28). So, even though believers today are not under the Old Testament law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:15), the fact that there was a command against tattoos should cause us to question. The New Testament does not say anything about whether a believer should or should not get a tattoo.
In relation to tattoos and body piercings, a good test is to determine whether we can honestly, in good conscience, ask God to bless and use the particular activity for His own good purposes. "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). The Bible does not command against tattoos or body piercings, but it also does not give us any reason to believe God would have us get tattoos or body piercings.
In the new testament hindi na binaggit uli yung tungkol sa body piercing yung direct na pagbawal. It is only in the old testament. Yan ang ibig kong sabihin sana sa una kung pahayag. That is why, I am soliciting ideas if that in the old testament still prevail or we just judge by ourselves and to follow our well if we want or not to in our present time.
Your text begins this way:
Leviticus 19
1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.
The reason why the Lord prohibits tattoings and etc is that Israelites should be holy for the LORD also is holy.
It is true that this is in Old Testaments. But you can't read that it's ONLY FOR old testament people.
It is true it was for the Israelite people. But you cant read in Moses' passages that it was ONLY FOR Isralites.
You cited 1 Cor 10:31, this is the principle of those laws. (except ceremonial laws) The rationale here is that IF YOU TATTOO YOUR BODIES WILL YOU GLORIFY GOD?
ANSWER: NO.NO.NO. He prohibited it to His holy people of old. Why not today? Are you not His holy people too?
