how will you differentiate Linux and Windows? what are those things that they hav in common?Advantage and disadvantage of both sides?

Linux is FREE! That is the most obvious difference between the two.

Thats probably right viper, but there are distros that are for sale. eg. suse and redhat.

Webservers use Linux hands down. I also use Linux for Teamspeak.Some gameservers such as Arma series use Windows hands down.Youll want to check how much the developers support one OS over another. ;-)
