P/SSupt Felix A. Diloy, PD at BPPO, reports the apprehension of illegal fishers from Buenavista, Sto. Nio, Samar, using hulbot-hulbot in the seawaters of San Lorenzo, Kawayan, on Aug. 25. Another fishers from Brgy. Uson, Caibiran, were apprehended illegally fishing using kubkuban at Brgy.Masagaosao, Kawayan,on Aug 26. Penalties were imposed for violation of Mun. Ord. No. 2002-02. Biliran Cong.Rogelio J. Espina allocated an amount of P1M from his PDAF to increase the number of Biliranons who can avail the Congressman Espina TESDA-PDAF scholarship program in TESDA-CNSAT in Cabucgayan,Bil..He also allocated an amount of P500,000 for the procurement of equipment to be used to enhance the skills & capabilities of the tech-voc students in TESDA-CNSAT.(rvictoria)

Employees of the national govt agencies, members of the PNP led by the DILG-Biliran joined in the parade this morning after the 6:30am mass as a kick-off activity in the celebration of the crime prevention week on Sept 1-7, 2012 in Biliran province. A short program will be held at the provl capitol immediately after the parade to open the activities of the occasion. (fjackson)

Sept. 11, 2012

A pumpboat capsized near the wharf of Naval on Monday.Reports gathered by PIA-Biliran disclosed that the Philippine Coast Guard viewed the incident as minor. The vessel involved was not a passenger vessel but a privately owned pumpboat. No injury or casualty was reported, according to the source. (FJ)

SN1 Johnrud C.Catorse,PCG-Biliran informed that an unregistered pump boat owned by a certain William Dalumpines capsized 30 meters away from the Naval wharf at around 4pm on Mon.,Sept.10,2012,while maneuvering on its way to Brgy. Agas in Calubian,Leyte.The cause of the incident was when an another pump boat owned by a certain Jonnie Quimbo overtaken the pump boat of Dalumpines.(rvictoria)

SN1 Catorse added that Quimbo attempted to rescue Dalumpines and his 4 companions on board but could not do so since his pump boat was loaded with barb wires and jugs of gasoline. Dalumpines and his 4 companions were rescued by the crew of the Ophelia Express,a passenger pump boat going to Naval. No injury was reported on the incident, Catorse disclosed. (rvictoria)

The 132 brgy.captains in the prov. of Biliran have attended,today,Wed.,July 31,2013,the prov'l nutrition forum conducted by the Biliran prov'l nut. com. held at the Nipa Hut in the prov'l capitol cmpd. The forum is aimed at increasing their awareness on hunger issues & actions to mitigate hunger & malnutrition & encourage stakeholders to contribute to addressing hunger issue.(rsv)

The prov'l nut.forum,which is a culminating activity of the Biliran PNC in line w/ the 39th nut. month celebration in July,is also aimed at advocating for stronger action to end hunger.Diff.vegetable seeds were also distributed to the 132 brgy.capts.in Biliran prov.PNC member-agencies also gave inputs on ways how to address hunger & malnutrition in their respective barangays.(rsv)

Tiburcio Morales,former DAR-8 reg'l dir. who represents Biliran Congressman Rogelio J. Espina during the prov'l nut. forum held today, July 31,2013,urged the barangay captains to submit nutri-related progs.,projs.& activities(PPAs)to the congressman for possible funding.He said this will help much in the implementation of nutri-related(PPAs)that will address hunger & malnutrition.(rsv)

Even as the celebration of the Nutrition Month in July is over, DepEd Biliran emphasized to the sch. children the impt. of eating fresh veggies everyday as all schools in Biliran prov. are encouraged to sustain their school garden program. The program likewise builds up the enthusiasm of the pupils to make their own gardens at home for a countinuous supply of fresh veggies daily. (fj)

The test drilling of the three wells of the Biliran Geothermal project located in Brgy. Cabibihan and Villavicenta in the mun. of Caibiran, Biliran to be undertaken by by the Icelandic Drilling Corp. (IDC) of Iceland starts this month of August, said Nilo Apuada, Biliran Geo Proj. Officer during the Kapihan forum. He said it takes the IDC about 45 days each well to complete drilling. (fj)

As the mun. of Naval celebrates Fiesta 2013, the participation and involvement of the Senior Citizens of the town will be highlighted. According to Dr. Edita Genson, NSU Pres and Chair of the Naval Fiesta Execom 2013, it is but fitting to involve the senior citizens in the area as a way of recognizing their share of the effort in shaping the town towards development. PCA-Biliran Chief Adem Atuel urged coconut farmers to avail of their programs that will help augment farmers' income. PCA gives incentive of P40/coconut seedling planted. Hybrid coconut seedlings & salt fertilizers are also available in their office for qualified coconut farmers. Atty.Richard Alvin Japson,prov'l election supervisor of Comelec-Biliran,revealed that there are 9,138 SK voters and 2,878 new barangay voters who have officially registered during the July 22-31,2013 registration schedule of Comelec.These data are based on the consolidated stat report of the 8 municipal Comelec offices in the prov. of Biliran submitted to the prov'l Comelec office.(rsv)

DepEd released guidelines for the 2013 qualifying test for aspiring school principals so that the public basic education sector can select competent school heads who will perform their functions professionally. Qualified to take the test are those who have at least 5 years experience as HT, TIC, MT & T3. Exam is on Dec 8 & deadline for filing of application in the div off is Nov 4. (MLT)
