Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm #BasyangPH (KAJIKI)

“BASYANG” HAS INTENSIFIED INTO A TROPICAL STORM AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE TOWARDS
LEYTE - CARAGA AREA.


Location of eye/center: At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “BASYANG” was estimated based on all available data at 500 km East Northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (10.4°N, 130.4°E).


Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.


Movement: Forecast to move West at 30 kph


Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm “BASYANG” is expected to be in the vicinity of Naga City, Cebu by tomorrow morning and at 133 km Northwest of Puerto Princesa City by Sunday morning. By Monday
morning, it is expected to be at 729 km West Northwest of Puerto Princesa City or outside the PAR.


• PUBLIC STORM WARNING SIGNAL #2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in atleast 24 hours)


VISAYAS: Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Eastern Samar, Samar and Camotes Island
MINDANAO: Dinagat Province, Surigao del Norte incl. Siargao Is., Northern Part of Surigao del Sur and
Northern Part of Agusan del Norte


• PUBLIC STORM WARNING SIGNAL #1(Winds of 30-60 kph is expected within the next 36 hours)


LUZON: Masbate and Cuyo Island
VISAYAS: Northern Samar, Biliran Is., Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros
Oriental and Siquijor
MINDANAO: Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, rest of Agusan del Norte, rest of Surigao del Sur,
Agusan del Sur, Northern part of Bukidnon and Zamboanga del Norte


• Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under public storm warning signal #1 are alerted
against possible flashfloods and landslides. Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 -15 mm per hour
(moderate - heavy) within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Storm.
• Expected to make landfall over Surigao Provinces late tonight or early tomorrow morning.
• Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the eastern seaboards of
Central and Southern Luzon due to Tropical Storm “Basyang” and the Northeast Monsoon.
• The public and local DRRMCs concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the
next bulletin to be issued at 5 PM today.
