    05W has strengthened into a Tropical Storm (TS) while accelerating west-northwest towards the Republic of Palau...expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday afternoon or evening. The latest WPF/MeteoGroup long-range forecast continues to show 05W approaching the eastern coast of Surigao-Siargao Area on Wednesday, April 09.


    Residents and visitors along Western Micronesia including the Republic of Palau and the Philippines should closely monitor the development of TS 05W (Unnamed).

    About: 835 km southeast of Koror, Palau...or 1,670 km east-southeast of Southern Mindanao, Philippines
    Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min avg): 65 kph near the center...Gustiness: 85 kph
    24 hr. Rain Accumulation (near and west of the center): 2 to 300 mm [Slight to Extreme]
    Past Movement: West-Northwest at 33 kph
    Forecast Movement: West-Northwest at 24 kph
    Towards: Republic of Palau




    3-DAY FORECAST OUTLOOK*


    05W is expected to move generally west-northwestward with a slight decrease in its forward speed throughout the forecast period. On the forecast track, the core of TS 05W will passing over or very close to Palau on the early evening of Sunday...and will enter the PAR on early Monday morning. It will then be over the central part of the South Philippine Sea on the early morning of Tuesday, April 8.


    05W is expected to slowly intensify throughout the forecast period...and could become a strong Tropical Storm (TS) by early Monday morning. Advance Intensity Forecast (AIF) shows its 1-minute maximum sustained winds increasing to 100 kph by early Tuesday.

    SUNDAY EARLY MORNING: Intensifies further while moving WNW across the Caroline Islands...approaching Palau...about 315 km SE of Koror, Palau [2AM APR 06: 5.9N 137.0E @ 75kph].
    MONDAY EARLY MORNING: Strengthens into a strong Tropical Storm while entering the South Philippine Sea...about 125 km NW of Koror, Palau [2AM APR 07: 7.8N 133.5E @ 95kph].
    TUESDAY EARLY MORNING: Over the central part of the South Philippine Sea...moving closer to the coastal areas of Dinagat-Surigao Provinces...about 495 km ESE of Siargao Island [2AM APR 08: 8.6N 130.4E @ 100kph].

    WEATHER ADVISORY NO.1FOR: TROPICAL STORM "PEIPAH" (International Name)
    ISSUED AT: 11:00 AM, 05 APRIL 2014
    At 10:00 am today, the Tropical Storm located south of Caroline Islands with an international name “Peipah” was estimated at 1,470 km east of Southern Mindanao (4.1°N 140.3°E) with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near its center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 20 kph. This weather disturbance is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tomorrow afternoon. It will not yet affect any part of the country within 24 hours.
    The next update will be incorporated in the public weather forecast at 5:00 pm today while the next advisory will be issued at 11:00 am tomorrow. - Pagasa

    Tropical Storm PEIPAH (DOMENG) has rapidly slowed down as it moves closer to Palau...expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) later tonight. Its displaced rainbands continues to spread across Western Micronesia and Palau. The potential landfall area of this storm shall be near the Surigao Del Sur-Surigao Del Norte Border on Wednesday afternoon, April 9.


    Residents and visitors along Western Micronesia including the Republic of Palau and the Philippines should closely monitor the development of TS Peipah.

    Peipah (Domeng) is expected to continue moving generally west-northwestward with a gradual decrease in its forward speed throughout the forecast period. On the forecast track, the core of TS Peipah will passing over or very close to Palau tonight after entering PAR...and will be over the middle of the South Philippine Sea on Monday afternoon. It will then be approaching Surigao Provinces by Tuesday afternoon...and by Wednesday afternoon, Peipah shall be making landfall over the eastern coast of Surigao Del Sur-Surigao Del Norte Area.

    Peipah (Domeng) is expected to slowly gain strength within the next 24 to 48 hours...and shall start to weaken upon its landfall by Wednesday afternoon. Advance Intensity Forecast (AIF) shows its 1-minute maximum sustained winds increasing to 85 kph on Tuesday afternoon.

    The following is the summary of the 3-day forecast outlook on this system:

    MONDAY AFTERNOON: Strengthens slightly while moving WNW across the South Philippine Sea...about 565 km ESE of Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur [2PM APR 07: 7.6N 131.4E @ 75kph].
    TUESDAY AFTERNOON: Strengthens further as it continues to move across the South Philippine Sea, closer to Surigao Provinces...about 275 km ENE of Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur [2PM APR 08: 8.4N 128.8E @ 85kph].
    WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON: Weakens slightly as it makes landfall near the Surigao Del Sur-Surigao Del Norte Border...about 100 km SSE of Siargao Island [2PM APR 09: 9.0N 126.3E @ 75kph].

    Below are the regions or places in the Philippines with possible or ongoing effects caused by the current tropical cyclone.

    EASTERN AND NORTHEASTERN MINDANAO: Heavy rains of 50 to 100 mm are likely to be experienced beginning Tuesday morning until Friday morning...becoming heavy to extreme rains of more than 100 mm with Tropical Storm Force Winds of not more than 85 kph across the provinces of Surigao Del Norte, Surigao Del Sur and Dinagat including Siargao Island. Residents in these areas are advised to be always on alert and closely monitor the weather situation for possible changes in its forecast.

    Tropical Depression PEIPAH (DOMENG) not looking healthy as it moves very slowly across the South Philippine Sea...remains a threat to Eastern Visayas.


    Residents and visitors along Northeastern Mindanao, Visayas and Bicol Region should closely monitor the development of TD Peipah (Domeng).

Residents in these areas are advised to be always on alert and closely monitor the weather situation for possible changes in its forecast.

    Peipah (Domeng) is expected to continue moving very slowly, north-northwestward within the next 12 hours...and shall turn northwestward throughout the forecast period. On the forecast track, the core of TD Peipah will move across the southern edge of the East Philippine Sea on Friday and Saturday.

    Peipah (Domeng) is expected to maintain its strength within the next 48 hours...and shall start to weaken through 72 hours. Advance Intensity Forecast (AIF) shows its 1-minute maximum sustained winds decreasing to just 45 kph on Saturday afternoon.

    The following is the summary of the 3-day forecast outlook on this system:

    THURSDAY AFTERNOON: Maintains its strength as it moves across the northern edge of the South Philippine Sea...about 395 km ESE of Siargao Island [2PM APR 10: 9.5N 129.7E @ 55kph].
    FRIDAY AFTERNOON: Moving across the southern part of the East Philippine Sea...about 300 km ESE of Siargao Island [2PM APR 11: 10.5N 128.4E @ 55kph].
    SATURDAY AFTERNOON: Weakens further as it approaches the coast of Eastern Samar...about 185 km ESE of Borongan City, Eastern Samar [2PM APR 12: 11.4N 127.1E @ 45kph].
