Caibiran cited as Biliran’s livestock center

Caibiran, Biliran – The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Eastern Visayas has cited this town as the top producer of livestock in this island province.

”I wish to congratulate you Mayor Eulalio Maderazo because based on the DA statistics I just read, your town is the top livestock producer in our province,” Biliran Rep. Roger J. Espina told Maderazo during his recent visit the other day.

Espina vowed to extend more support to the local government unit of Caibiran to further improve its agriculture program and projects.

He told newsmen that the livestock raised by the people of Caibiran is not only sold in Biliran island but in nearby Leyte municipalities.

He said he has proposed to Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol during their meeting last month in Catbalogan City to fund more programs and projects in Biliran to benefit local farmers.

Meanwhile, Maderazo reported to Espina that Caibiran was also cited during the 2014 Agri-Pinoy Rice Achievers Award.
