NAVAL, Biliran — Nineteen-year-old, five feet and four inches tall Christine Joy A. Bayacon, a psychology student from Almeria town, won the coveted title Miss Biliran Tourism 2008.
She received a P20,000 cash prize for winning the brains and beauty search in celebration of the 16th Provincehood Anniversary of this province.
Biliran Gov. Rogelio Roger J. Espina, assisted by the First Lady of Ormoc City Julida M. Codilla, crowned Miss Almeria, Christine Joy A. Bacayon, as Miss Biliran Tourism ’08, to the joy of cheering fans for the crown earned by the winner.
It was a jam-packed at Naval Institute of Technology (NIT) Gym pageant evening of May 9, 2008, where the main event will be held in tne town.
This year’s Search for Miss Biliran Tourism 2008, was sponsored by the Biliran Provincial Tourism Council (BPTC) as a highlight in the celebrations of the 16th Biliran Provincehood Anniversary on May 8-11, 2008, a way of saluting to the Biliranon woman of today.
As Miss Biliran Tourism 2008, Christine Joy Bacayon, or simply Tin-tin to her close friends, will also have the opportunity to serve as Bilirans Ambassadress of Goodwill during her reign.
The First Runner-up title, trophy and P15,000 cash prize went to Miss Maripip-Mariane Fatima Chawdhury, an 18-years-old, 3rd year Mass Communications student of the University of the Philippines, Cebu College.
