I would like to correct however some entries , to wit;

1. If my memory serves me right, I graduated elementary as Valedictorian from Villalon Central School in the year 1994. I started in 1988 If I am not mistaken.

2. I graduated high-school from St. Nicholas Academy of Cebu City in the year 1998. I studied 1st-2nd year at NIT (1994-1995) and my 3rd year at the Cathedral School of La Naval. I transferred to Cebu for my fourth to join my two sisters Flor and Jing.

3. I only started college in the year 1999 at AMA Computer College in Cebu City. I took up BS in Business Management. I stopped in 2002 because I decided to work instead.

4. My first try in politics was in 2004 at Calubian.

5. I started my radio program in June of 2004 after the elections. I am a block timer- I pay for my airtime thru my personal finances and with the help of my family especially my sister who married a US national.

6. I enrolled in 2005 at LSP Tacloban where I graduated in 2006 with a degree of BS in Public Administration. I had my 3 years of a management course from AMA-Cebu and most of my subjects earned were credited.

7. I was appointed Executive Assistant IV to the Mayor of Naval only in December 2006. I served for 3 months only because I contested for a Council Seat of Naval in the 2007 elections.

8. For a year (2005-2006) yes I been everyday on travel Naval-Tacloban and vice-versa. I radio most often at that time via phone-patch.

According to my friend who used to visit at JDR’s home, JDR got 1 desktop and 1 laptop. I’m sure it is true, kaya nga niya mogasto ug 50 thousand a month sa iyang radyo program, kana pa kahang duha ka computers?

1) Where will you get money to fund your campaign, considering that your salary is indeed to low to suffice for such expenses.?

Hello everyone,

I am Paul Giovanni Magalit Diu “Totos”, 28 years of age residing in Almeria, Biliran Philippines. I am running for a position in Congress under the Nacionalista Party, headed by our party president, Senator Manny Villar. I grew up in the Philippines in a poor family but with a respectable last name. Like many Filipinos I went abroad to work and live, and this experience truly expanded my horizon in all aspects. I came back to the Philippines and noticed how deprived the Filipino people are. We are so behind all other countries, which sadden me. I felt that the Philippines has remained stagnant. I believe that a country is only as good as its people. The Philippines need a leader that is not easily corrupted by the chosen few but rather influenced with the welfare of the oppressed. He must always stand for what is right and fair for the public. Bearing all these in mind, I was convinced that I should start the long journey for change.

I plan to create more job opportunities for my province so that the need to go abroad will just be leisure and not an endeavor. We will achieve this by bringing in more International investors. If given the chance, I plan to create an institution focusing on financially guiding our citizens to start their own businesses.  For I have faith in the ability of the Filipinos to engage in commercial ventures and eventually being successful.  We all deserve to live a prosperous life.  Politics and the government are not machineries for wealth manipulation but rather vehicles for socio-economic development of a country. I would like to develop the waste management system of our country. We need to clean our sewers and canals. We will install machines that will filter the waste sewage system in the province; this will minimize solid waste deposits in our rivers and seas. We need to preserve our environment for the future benefit of the coming generations. They deserve to live in a better world. Our country, the Philippines, has a lot to offer. I plan to reinforce our existing educational system. We will focus on the proper distribution of additional reading materials to the children for in them lies our future. These are just some of the things that I plan to do, and will continue to do regardless of what this 2010 elections’ outcome may be. I know there are a lot of things that need to be done, and I believe we can make a difference.

Back in 2o07, I have discussed at length on this site, the critical importance of developing a master plan for the province of Biliran. A master plan which embodies the comprehensive blue print of socio-economic and cultural development anchored on a balanced approach to infrastructure, education, employment and investment strategies in an environment of full public consultation, adherence to the principles of honesty, transparency and accountability.

The scarcity of resources requires that every measure taken, funds spent and opportunities considered, be an integral part of that plan. The practise of giving full discretion to politicians to determine what is best for Biliran, based on their own perception, should not be encouraged. Politicians should not be given the sole prerogative of prioritizing project conceptualization and implementation based solely on their discretion.

Available funds whether, PDAF, funded by national releases , grants and loans should not be left to the full discretion of politicians, but rather be effectively managed through an executive team or commission created for that purpose. Politicians’ role, whether congressional, provincial and local, is to pass legislation to support the needed measures, find the resources for project implementation and monitor the resulting over-all impact of the adopted measure in aid of future planning and legislation.

Yes, i am advocating the creation of some kind of a development commission for Biliran. An entity created by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, supported by all Sangguniang Bayan and recognized by national government implementing agencies. It can be established as a quasi-public corporation whose members of the board of directors are composed of sectoral representatives possessing expertise in their own respective fields of endeavour; and supported by a management team employed based on qualification, specific expertise, and verifiable experience.

In other words, what is required is for the commission to draft and present a master plan to the politicians, have it validated by a thorough and exhaustive public consultation and back to the politicians for legislation. The management team within the commission will execute the approved programs.
