KAWAYAN, Biliran — Operatives of the Station Drug Enforcement Team of the local police here together with operatives from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of this province, together with the PDEA, apprehended during a buy bust operation a mechanic about 4:25 p.m., Oct. 28, at Brgy. Inasuyan here.
SDET and Kawayan Chief Police Lt. Ismael Orson, identified the suspect as Jonjie Romero, 44, with live-in partner, a mechanic and a resident of Brgy Ungali of this town.
Recovered from his possession was one sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, procured by a poseur buyer cop in the amount of P500. During body search in front of media and barangay officials, the searching cop recovered a folded paper that contained one more sachet containing the same white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu also along with one pc. P500 with serial number SW484622, which is the marked money used in the operation. The police also recovered the suspect’s color black Yamaha Sniper 150 motorcycle.
The suspect denied owning the illegal substance when asked by media covering the buy bust.
But Lt. Corson in a telephone interview said that the suspect’s lifestyle is questionable that’s why they conducted a surveillance against him. He said that they also received rumors that the suspect is driving Isuzu MUX SUV like an owner aside from Yamaha Sniper that was recovered from him during his arrest. He added that after a month of surveillance they found out that the suspect is cleverly selling an illegal drug that’s why they launched a buy bust operation against the suspect this afternoon.
Charges of Violation of Sec. 5 (selling illegal drugs) and Sec. 11 (Possession of illegal drugs) of Art. II of RA 9165 the Comprehensive Law against Illegal Drugs of 2002 against the suspect who is temporarily detained at the lock-up cell of the local police.
