Tacloban City (January 21) – The Philippine National Police Regional Office 8 under the leadership of PNP 8 Director Abner Cabalquinto, is set to award the Tacloban City Police Station as the Best Urban Police Station in the Region.
PRO 8 is also set to award the Almeria Police Station in Almeria , Biliran as the Best Rural Police Station in the Region.
The Children and Women’s Desk of Tacloban City Police Station has also been chosen as the Children and Women’s Desk of the Year in the urban category while the Children and Women’s Desk of Liloan Police Station in Liloan, Southern Leyte was adjudged as the Children and Women’s Desk of the Year in the rural category.
Director Cabalquinto said that the selection of the awardees was done by the Search and Award Committee headed by Col. Rey Lanada of PRO 8.
The awardees were chosen because of their successful implementation of the campaign against criminality and their administrative accomplishments under the program thrusts of the Philippine National Police under the leadership of PNP Chief Avelino Razon.
The reduction of crime rates also played a vital role in the selection of the Best Police Stations of the Region.
The awardees as best Children and Women’s Desks scored a number of milestones in the promotion and protection of women and children’s rights particularly in the strengthening and optimization of the utilization of policewomen in responding to cases and concerns of women and children.
The awarding has been set during the celebration of Philippine National Police Day, the office of Col. Lanada informed PIA. The exact date is still to be determined, the source said.
Moreover, Director Cabalquinto informed said that these awardees will be the Region’s entry to the National Search. They will be nominates to the National Search Committee, Director Cabalquinto said.
Director Cabalquinto expressed his optimism that the awards will serve as an inspiration to the other Police Stations in the Region to provide the best service to the constituents in their respective areas.
