Renato B. has been my friend since childhood. We were classmates in elementary and he graduated as the ClassValedictorian. We both studied at NIT as working students. I have known him to be God fearing and peace-Ioving person. I am reallyshocked and refused to believe that the boy who once saved my life from drowning in Jubay river is facing murder charges. He is a man of principle and I feel he too is a victim of the political conflicts in Biliran.

Toy, it’s been a long time that we haven’t communicated from each other and I have no other way of contacting you and your family there in Jubay. I know your family are worried about you and those who really know you personally are praying for you to be released soon. I hope my message will reach you that I believe in your innocence and I too am praying for you that your name will be cleared and the real killers and the mastermind of the ambush will be punished. I just hope that peace and justice will prevail in Biliran. I know you are telling the truth, it will set you free! Yes I 100% believe Mr. Espina had prior knowledge of or DIRECTLY ordered the attack on Charlie Chong. There is NO doubt in my mind. I have no absolute proof, but hopefully the guilty people will meet justice god willing! I also believe Espina supporters are responsible for an unsolved murder in Brgy. Pinangomhan. We both know Renato Saul to be everything that you said he was. You, more than me, know him better because you grew up in the same neighborhood. However, when was the last time you met or even talked? My guess would be that ever since you went north to Luzon you have had no contact with him whatsoever.

At first I myself could not believe that Intoy was with the group that did the ghastly ambush of Charlie Chong and the collateral killing of Antonio Barcelo and Inton Parilla. What had me thinking otherwise were the accounts of not only Charlie Chong himself but of several others who swore that they saw him training the bore of his gun at Charlie on that fateful evening.

I personally interviewed several of these witnesses and I could not find any reason why they would want to implicate Intoy in this crime other than that they were actually present during the commission of the crime. These witnesses, mind you, made their accounts independent of each other.

I am a person not easily convinced by anything and I take on a reserved view of everything I am told. However, these several people from different walks of life looking from different angles but saying only the same thing has me convinced that Intoy was indeed with the group that killed Parilla and Barcelo.

Instead of convincing us of his innocence (only because, like me, you knew him once upon a time) you could do everyone justice if you will convince him to rat on his partners in crime. If not, he will take solo punishment for a crime a few people planned and several more put into action.

Anona, maybe you should examine your ability to think as well. People are allowed to have opinions. I have a very good reason, based in fact for reaching that opinion. This is not the proper forum to go in depth with that reason, so I will leave it at that. Of course I have no physical proof of Espina’s guilt, only beliefs. I can assure you, the majority of Biliranons not on the Espina payroll will certainly agree with me. It is up to the investigators to gather the proof and evidence. Hopefully the investigation will be conducted in a fair, and impartial manner. If Espina is totally innocent, then he will be exonerated If he is found guilty, he will face justice in life, and judgment in the after life. As we all will….

Correction… he can only be exonerated if he is convicted, and then found out later to be innocent. That may be a little to presumptive ;). What I mean, is if he is innocent then he will be cleared of all charges, or acquitted if it actually goes to court. I firmly stand by my beliefs. We will see.. Only time will tell what will happen.

my advice to saul is to cut clean pards, we were once in NIT pards. You still have a bright future and and you have big plans for your family. Tell the truth.

Actually you have many options pa to consider like turning in as state witness pa. Don’t be afraid of those politicians that only have their own self interests to pursue.

I am only a layman but in my opinion, if the case against you will drag you will rot in the jails while those politicians wine and dine?

To: Ang Biliranon

I admit I have not talked with my friend Intoy Saul for a long time. But, it does not mean that I have no news about him. That’s why I believe he is innocent. I have talked with him just recently and I am convinced he is innocent. He is an honest person and God fearing. He can never stand as a state witness against any party involved in the crime because he has no knowledge about it. He is not like others who can make lies and put innocent people down just to protect himself or gain popular support from others. Anyway, the investigation is on going and you and I know that he will be the one to suffer pending the result of the investigation , knowing that both opposing political parties are very influential. Like many others, I have the feeling that this case will be used as an issue in 2010 election. I felt pity for the family of the ambush victims I hope they will get justice of their untimely deaths. That’s why I appeal to those who are handling the case, to have a thorough and speedy investigation. To you Biliranon, I admire you for being neutral and not judgemental.
