Naval, Biliran— A senior citizen was declared Dead on Arrival at the Biliran Provincial Hospital, along with three others after the single motorcycle he was driving and boarded by his daughter was bumped by another single motorcycle collision with at about 9:20 in the evening on Tuesday, June 11, along the national road of Brgy Atipolo, of this capital town of the Province of Naval, Biliran.

The casualty was identified as Pacito Ganata, 66, married, a resident of Sitio Anas, Brgy Atipolo here. He was driving a Suzuki Burgman, maroon color, with Plate No. 134HQQ with her nine-year-old daughter, a Grade III pupil. While the other motorcycle was driven by the suspect identified as Jhon Morales, 20, a single, construction worker, both residents of Sitio Cogon, Brgy Larrazabal here. He was driving a Suzuki Raider, blue color, with Temp. Plate No. 0801-0296744. Both drivers have no driver’s licenses and failed to present any documents.

The local police said that the station received information from a concerned citizen that a traffic accident allegedly transpired at the above-mentioned place involving two single motorcycles. Upon receipt of information, the local police immediately responded to the area to verify the veracity of the said report. Upon arrival, the, responding officers noted that both vehicles involved were already moved and were no longer at their original position.

Investigation conducted by responding police base on the account of witness Roniel Garin, 32, a resident of Brgy San Roque, Almeria, Biliran who revealed that a Suzuki Raider was traveling from Kawayan, Biliran direction heading to the town proper here. Upon passing at the Anas Bridge, the Suzuki Raider speedily overtook the vehicle driven by Garin and upon arrival at the place of the accident, the Suzuki Raider accidentally hit/bumped the Suzuki Burgman driven by Ganata who was on his way crossing the road and about to enter the barangay road of Sitio Anas, Brgy Atipolo, here.

The police continued that the incident resulted in both drivers and back riders incurring injuries to different parts of their bodies while both vehicles involved likewise incurred undetermined damages. Both parties involved were brought to Biliran Provincial Hospital for immediate medical treatment but Ganata was declared Dead on Arrival by attending physicians. While both vehicles involved were brought to this station for custody and disposition.
