Calubian, Leyte -The local police of this Leyte town are conducting a thorough investigation over the motive and the identity of the suspect that shot dead a former jail guard of Biliran Provincial Jail about 8: 20 in the evening on Wednesday, April 12, in Brgy. Agas, Calubian, Leyte.
Calubian COP Police Capt. Romeo Caones identified the victim as Emmanuel R. Vicera, 53, married, a former jail guard and presently a self-employed engaged in small business and resident of Brgy. Calumpang, Naval, Biliran.
Capt. Caones in an interview disclosed according to investigation that the victim was seated at the back of a single motorcycle driven by a friend when the suspect who casually passed by shot the victim once hitting his left forehead causing the victim to fall to the ground lifeless. He said that the people in the area panicked and nobody in the area recognized the suspect as everybody were running towards different directions after the gun explosion was heard. He added that the place where the shooting occurred was beside the barangay covered court and it was crowded during the time of the shooting because the barangay is preparing a disco in celebration with their annual festa celebration.
“Actually, blangko kami sa motibo at sa suspek sa barilang ito, kasi in the first place hindi taga rito ang biktima. Kay mag background check muna kami sa victim para doon kami makapagsimula” Capt. Caones stressed.
The victim was a former jail guard of Biliran Provincial Jail and was laid off in 2019. After his termination the victim engaged in business manufacturing lumpia wrapper.
