DPWH Biliran

NAVAL, Biliran (BDEO) – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)- Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) successfully celebrated its 65th founding anniversary on April 15-19, 2024, anchoring the theme: “65 years of Teamwork, Dedication and Cooperation”.

The celebration was kicked off with a parade of floats en route from the DPWH-Biliran DEO office at Brgy. Calumpang to the government center in the Province of Biliran, showcasing some of its major infrastructure projects such as the on-going construction of the new Biliran Provincial Hospital and its newly completed DPWH Standard Office Building located at Brgy. Larrazabal, Naval, Biliran.

Interagencies sportsfest activities is one of the highlights of Biliran DEO’s 65th founding anniversary. This was actively participated by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Biliran Provincial Hospital (BPH) and the Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), competing for the games, basketball and volleyball.

Other activities were played by Biliran DEO employees who were divided into four teams to compete for the games, badminton, table tennis and other traditional Filipino games called “Laro ng Lahi”. The said sports and game events were the highlights during the first three days of the week-long anniversary celebration from April 15-17, 2024.

Moreover, men and women employees of Biliran DEO also enjoyed the “Pamper Day” event on April 17, 2024. This initiative through the Biliran DEO’s Rank and File employees Association (RAFEA) allowed the employees to pamper themselves through free manicure, pedicure haircut, glucose test and blood pressure monitoring.

The last day of the celebration was the highlight of Biliran DEO’s 65th founding anniversary celebration held at the BiPSU Gym on April 19, 2024. The said event highlights on honoring the previous District Engineers of Biliran DEO, the awarding ceremony of the participating inter-agencies, and the search for the King & Queen of Biliran DEO through the traditional Kuratcha Dance, a fund-raising initiative of the Biliran DEO RAFEA for its “Kawang-gawa” project for the entire year.

The said event was graced by DPWH Regional Office VIII Regional Director Edgar B. Tabacon, former District Engineers of Biliran DEO, Engr. Virginia C. Sarabusing and Engr. David P. Adongay Jr., former Assistant Regional Director and stakeholders from the House of Representatives, Local Government Units (LGUs) of Biliran and the contractors.

Biliran DEO employees slayed the occasion with their glamorous long gowns and formal suit as they graced the significant milestones of Biliran DEO, complementing the event, glitz and glamour theme.

“Tonight, we reflect to the theme: 65 years of teamwork, dedication and cooperation, we are reminded of the countless individuals who contributed in one way or another their talents, passions and love for this vision,” OIC-District Engineer Irwin L. Antonio said.

DPWH-Biliran DEO was created on April 08, 1959 by virtue of Republic Act No. 2141, but due to the long holidays, the celebration was moved to April 15-19, 2024.
