Student hangs self to death inside the comfort room in Biliran Provincial Hospital

Naval, Biliran—

The death of a 3rd year AB Communication Arts student who was found hanging and lifeless inside the comfort room of Biliran Provincial Hospital about 3: 50 in the afternoon on Wednesday (Nov 24) and suspected to be a case of suicide puzzles the local police and the relatives why the victim had come up to that situation when he was making well in school.

The victim was identified as Democrito Acop Jr. y Cadano, 26, single, student, and a resident of Brgy P.I Garcia, Naval, Biliran.

The police said that one concerned citizen reported to their station and informed that a found dead body was found hanging inside the comfort room of the said hospital in an alleged case of suicide using a shoe lace tied in his neck.

Initial investigation conducted by responding police revealed that said victim was last seen alive about 2:00 in the afternoon on that day Wednesday while taking care of the patient. A witness, John Paul Senier, 22, single, residing at Brgy Balacson, Kawayan, Biliran, said that he was informed by his friend that a certain victim was seen live in Facebook committing suicide by hanging with a shoe lace in his neck. The witness immediately went to the hospital to verify the information he received and upon reaching the hospital, he directly proceeded to the comfort room to find the truth but the door was locked.

The police continued that since the door was totally locked from the inside he sought the assistance of the personnel of the hospital which decided to forcibly open the door and was stunned to find out that the victim was hanging lifeless. The police said that relatives of the victim told them that the victim is an introverted type of person and a loner but he is very talented especially in drawing because the victim is good at charcoal painting.

Dr. Madonna Payao, MD, BPH declared the victim dead at around 3:20 in the afternoon on the same date.
